Automated number plate recognition
Vlatacom system for vehicle speeding evidence with ANPR (Automated Number Plate Recognition) is an advanced solution that
provides increased safety on roads. This system can not be detected with radar detectors, nor can a driver be alerted by other
drivers about traffic patrol position. This is a significant improvement compared to occasional speeding control.
ANPR system consists of the control point pairs, and each one includes an entrance and exit control points. The pairs are
positioned at open roads. Control points are equipped with number plate recognition system that consists of high resolution
camera for number plate photographing and a computer with picture processing software.
Control points are also equipped
with cameras for vehicle photographing. This is important because there are vehicles with number plates impossible to read
(vehicles without, or with covered, number plates), and also for providing evidence material for speeding offenses.
This system records vehicles that passed the location with the entrance control point. High resolution camera photographs the
number plate, the computer recognizes letters and digits and the exact time of passing and sends the data to the command-control
center.
This data strip from the pair of control points and predefined value of distance between entrance and exit control points are
used for instant calculation of average speed of vehicle passing that distance. It can also be used for locating stolen, unlicensed
or in any other way suspicious vehicles.
